Born from a dialogue between contemporary fine art and the world of exceptional leather craftsmanship, each work in the KEMBALii Archive Collection is composed using authenticated exotic leather remnants thoughtfully transformed into one-of-one mixed-media compositions.
The materials originate from the professional workshop archive of Leather Surgeons, where owner Gerry Gallagher has spent more than thirty years specializing in the restoration and preservation of luxury leather goods. His extensive experience working with rare and exotic leathers provides a distinctive foundation for the identification and authentication of the materials incorporated into the collection.
Rather than allowing these extraordinary materials to remain forgotten within an archive, KEMBALii gives them a second life—reimagining them as contemporary works of art that explore craftsmanship, permanence, transformation, and the passage of time.
Every leather fragment possesses its own natural grain, texture, markings, and character. These inherent qualities make each composition entirely unique and ensure that no two works can ever be replicated.
Each artwork is meticulously assembled by hand by KEMBALii and is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Provenance & Authenticity, jointly issued by KEMBALii and Gerry Gallagher, owner of Leather Surgeons. The certificate documents the artwork as an original, one-of-one KEMBALii composition and provides provenance for the authenticated exotic leather materials incorporated into the work.
The result is more than a painting or mixed-media artwork. It is a singular collectible object—a meeting point between contemporary art, luxury craftsmanship, and the philosophy at the heart of KEMBALii: that remarkable things can be given a second life.
